Nevada was my soon to be wife. She was my family, my support, and the most beautiful soul I have ever known. At only 20 years old, she was quiet, soft-spoken, peaceful, hardworking, intelligent, forgiving, and uncommonly kind. She fought sarcoma cancer for five years with the love and remarkable support from her mother Yvette and her loving family that never gave up on her. Yet through it all, she continued to love, care for others, and focus on the life and dreams we shared. She had an incredible love for animals, especially those closest to her, and even experienced the heartbreak of losing her dog Anja to cancer.

Nevada and I found happiness in the simplest moments—camping, traveling to Texas together, walks, cookouts in the back of my truck, watching movies and shows, and quiet mornings when she would wake up just to give me a hug before work. She became my family and gave me a reason to open my heart and feel safe being myself.

Losing Nevada left me feeling frozen in a way I had never experienced.

 

Smooshy Company was created from the love we shared and her love for animals. The name carries a part of her with me, and every animal I care for is another opportunity to carry forward the kindness, patience, and unconditional love she showed throughout her life.

Smooshy Company is more than a business to me. It is a way to remember Nevada, celebrate her life, and keep a piece of the love she gave me moving forward.
